Bouncy Bandicoots
Australia
The general gist of our team was that we all competed in the Tassie edition of the Legend XPD AR on different teams. Got pretty frothy from it and wanted more adventure in a new place. NZ is one of the mecca's of AR so thinking it could be a humbling experience, but keen to have a crack. Em Goals: to finish after having some challenging and fun times, while still all being friends! Trying to complete the full race! Fears: the ocean paddling and waves! Best disciplines: hiking and eating! Looking forward to: some interesting navigation choices! Experienced: legends, Amazon AR, raid 100 (but DNF) Rivalries: everyone! Stories: a mix of three different AR teams in one! Steal the best and race the rest!😆Snacks: noodles and soup! Becca Best discipline: dealing with the unexpected (ie when the shit hits the fan). Goals: see if I can maintain my equanimity Rivalries: the comparison trap (or my mind!) Looking forward to: some real nav and decision making. Fears: coasteering in the dark with wild waves/swell Favourite snacks: maple syrup water (if that counts, else chips!) Ryan Goals: to have a good story to tell. Fears: sitting in a boat for a really long time. Best disciplines: None. I'm a jack of all trades, master of none.Looking forward to: a unique race Experience: not much. Adventure race number 2 for me! Snacks: I'll eat just about anything Dan Goals: Help the team to be the best we can be Fears: Getting through the surf with a non self bailing boat and getting really cold. Best disciplines: Off-track Looking forward to: Settling in to the rhythm of another XPD AR and exploring a new place. Experience: Lots of ultra marathons, 24/48hr AR in Aus and Tassie Legend 2025 Stories: We all experienced our first full length XPD race in our home state of Tassie. Competing against each other across three different teams. After Tassie we all wanted something more and the Magnificent was a good fit to put us a little further out of our comfort zones. Snacks: Vegemite and cheese sandwiches
